How to subscribe to the list:
- Write an email to listserv@lists.ufl.edu
- Write subscribe brasa-L firstname lastname in the body of the email (not into the subject field). For example, if Fernando Henrique Cardoso wanted to subscribe, he would write the following into the body: subscribe brasa-L Fernando Cardoso
- Make sure to follow these instructions precisely. Capital/lowercase letters matter!
- After you send the email you will receive a message asking you to confirm the subscription. Simply reply to this message with "OK" (without quotation marks) in the body of the message.
- Note: You may have to send all messages without any signature for the process to work.
*IMPORTANT: subscription to this mail list doesn't make you a member of BRASA. To become a member, please visit our Members section.How to email everyone in the list:
- Check if your message content is appropriate for the list (see List Rules below).
- Write a title in the subject field that reveals that lets everyone know what your email is about.
- Send to brasa-L@lists.ufl.edu
- Do not forget that your message may reach hundreds of people!
How to remove your email from the list:
- Send to listserv@lists.ufl.edu from the email address you want to remove.
- Write signoff brasa-L in the body of the email (not into the subject field).

To inform members of BRASA events and meetings
To promote knowledge about Brazil and its culture
To promote the integration of Brazilians or anyone interested in Brazil

RULES FOR MEMBER USE
UNACCEPTABLE MESSAGES- DO NOT SEND TO MAILING LIST :
• Commercial posting that advertises a company or services
• Messages intended for only one or few members; use the e-mails of the members whom you wish to contact
• Jokes or any messages considered SPAM (including inspirational messages unrelated to Brazil, that are commonly spread through the internet in the form of an attachment containing a powerpoint presentation or text with pictures).
• Offensive materials
• Replies to a discussion topic; see rules for discussion below
RULES ABOUT DISCUSSION:
• A topic may be posted on the list to initiate a discussion, but the discussion itself may NOT take place on the list serve; use each other's e-mail addresses or the MSN (UF BRASA) list for further discussion
• Whoever wishes to initiate a discussion MUST include a message reminding NOT TO REPLY TO THE WHOLE LIST SERVE; reply only to them or to the discussion board.
• Do not reply to the initial post through the list-serve
• No use of offensive language
ALLOWED MESSAGES:
• Community events (parties, festivals, assemblies, etc)
• News articles, reports, video links, or interesting information related to Brazil (again, if you would like to respond, please do so out of the list-serve)
• Posting about job opportunities
• Initiation of a discussion topic; see rules for discussions above
• Messages about items for sale (tickets, vehicles, bikes, furniture, tickets, moving out/in, etc); DO NOT POST MORE THAN ONCE about these items (don't send more than one message about the couch/scooter you are selling). And remember, no advertising for companies or services
