BGSO boasts a number of engaging and uplifting activities throughout the academic year. Our annual events include:

MLK Celebration: This celebration, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is held every January and recognizes outstanding graduate students ~ Past Guest speakers include Nikki Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez, Chuck D., Kevin Powell, and Angela Davis.

Grad Prep Workshop: Usually held during the Fall semester, this workshop is designed to provide undergraduate students with information about applying to graduate and professional programs

Writer's Workshop: A published author helps attendees explore their interests in writing ~ This workshop, held during BGSO Week, gives students an opportunity to nurture their creative spirits.

BGSO Week: A series of events, including film screenings, live music, poetry readins, and panel discussions ~ Designed to expose the campus and community to BGSO.

Community Service: We participate in a variety of activities such as the MLK March, St. Francis House, voter registration, supply drives, Habitat for Humanity, and mentoring/tutoring programs for children and young adults.

BGSO also plans a number of regularly scheduled social activities such as attending university events as a group, movie nights, and potluck socials.
