Purpose:The Child Language Lab is a research facility affiliated with the Developmental Psychology Area of the Psychology Department at the University of Florida. Language is an amazingly complex ability and yet children seem to acquire it with relative ease. The focus of our research is to examine how children accomplish this task. We are primarily interested in how children's development in social and cognitive development facilitates children's language acquisition.
Space:The lab is located on the first floor of the Psychology building on Center Drive. It has a main observation room connected via a one-way mirror to an equipment room that houses the video recording equipment.
Staff: The lab director is Dr. Jeffrey Farrar, an associate professor in the Psychology Department. Sylvia Ashwell and Joann Benigno are the graduate research assistants at the lab. Undergraduate psychology students help out as well.
