UF AWMA Organized the Field Trip to GRU Deerhaven Generating Station.
20 students attended the field trip.
Plant manager Doug Beck and staff engineer Dan Ominski guided the tour inside the coal-fired unit. The students had a bird-eye view on the top of the boiler and they also visited the turbine and the control room.
Students learned hands-on knowledge on the configuration of a power plant and the process of power generation. They also learned the practical air pollution control devices/processes and understood the great effort GRU Deerhaven has made as a zero discharge plant.
