Divisions Menu

  A Divisions - Require 20 hours of community service. Electees must be active in one of the  following divisions:

  • Healing Animals: A division devoted to developing both the positive impact that humans can have on the healthcare of animals and also the positive impact that animals can have on the healthcare of humans. 


  • SAID (Students Advocating Informed Decisions): This division works to educate both college and high school students about the risks and consequences associated with alcohol, eating disorders, drugs, and sex.


  • SAiM (Student Arts in Medicine): SAiM is dedicated to the medicinal therapy offered by the arts and the enhancement art brings to the lives of others.  SAiM’s semester activities include work with Shand’s pediatric ward, the Hope Lodge, and St. Francis House.


  • S.T.O.P. Cancer: This division targets both adults and children.  Its goal is not only to inform the community about the risks of cancer, but also to encourage a healthy way of life.

  Z Divisions - Require 10 hours of community service. Electees must be active in one of the  following divisions:

  • Nutrition:  This division works toward promoting awareness related to the importance of living a physically and mentally healthy lifestyle.


  • S.P.O.R.T.S.: This is a division that focuses on using recreation and activity as a means of therapy. Events include wheelchair basketball, after school disability programs, and cancer walks, among others.


  • Pediatrics:  This division of A.E.D. aims to help children lead healthier, more enjoyable lives.  Some of the division’s plans include field days for sick or needy children of Alachua County and teaching crafts at local health clinics.


  • V.T.F. (Volunteer Task Force): This division’s primary task is to serve the local community.  VTF participates in many large scale events such as Habitat for Humanity, nursing home activities, and the March of Dimes.
