General Information
Software Use:
All faculty, staff and students of the University are required
and expected to obey the laws and legal agreements governing
software use. Failure to do so can lead to monetary damages
and/or criminal penalties for the individual violator. Because
such violations are also against University policies and rules,
disciplinary action will be taken as appropriate. We,
the members of the University of Florida community, pledge to
hold ourselves and our peers to the highest standards of honesty
and integrity.
Academic Honesty:
As the instructor, I will put forth my best efforts: (1) to
present the course material in a clear manner, (2) to clearly
outline my expectations and your responsibilities, and (3) to
make myself available outside of the classroom. As a result,
I will have no tolerance for violators. Formally: As a result
of completing registration forms every student has signed the
following statement "I understand that the University of Florida
expects its students to be honest in all their academic work.
I agree to adhere to this commitment to academic honesty and
understand that my failure to comply with this commitment may
result in disciplinary action up to and including expulsion
from the University."

Final Thoughts:
I anticipate a fun, knowledge packed, interactive semester.
I strongly encourage you to develop a camaraderie with your
classmates to make the class interesting and helpful. Each student
has unique talents and skills and represents a resource for
all the other students in the class.
On a last note, I encourage you to seek help when you can't
master a topic. Often, a student's first reaction is to approach
the instructor for help. I expect to be asked questions. However,
one of the most important aspects of learning is to learn to
be self-reliant and find answers on your own. I have no problem
with answering your questions, but I will also ask if you used
other resources such as classmates or a textbook to try to arrive
at the answer. If you haven't, I might direct you to those resources
first. The lesson learned is simple: you can always count on
yourself when you have the ability to find answers on your own.
