Gorgeous cinematography. Check out this ad for Schweppes, called "Burst". I learned a new word today, and it's got a great ring and feeling attached to it after this ad - Schweppervescence.

Television/Viral:
Finally Unilever/Axe ditched the last campaign (I hope)
Axe Peel:
Another Obama spot by Will.i.am from the Black Eye Peas. This trend just got picked up by Ad Age as professional creatives start to back Obama with creative expresssion. Read more here.
This spot for Ann Summer's is probably reserved for at home viewing. The piece is called "Wood."

BP:
This microsite for BP has a fun game called Gas Mania. I really like how they are attempting to brand BP as the logical choice. The gas station that is just "little better" kind of remind of Avis "We try harder."

The Beverage Industry adds another leg to stand on

Well it won't make you skinny but it will make you healthier(sort of). Pepsi has launched a new soda in the UK (the test market). Touting a healthier alternative to its popular beverage, Pepsi.
I applaud the effort but I wonder if it comes too late. Much of western culture has already written off carbonated beverages and invested faith in good ole' fashion water. With all the new and interesting products, they've got one shot to sell me. If it makes it to the States, I'll gladly give it a test run.
Also, BBDO is said to be working on a campaign which uses naked bodies to promote this "RAW" outlook on life. Stay tuned to the blogosphere.

Coca-Cola Adds a Little Honest Tea
BrandWeek
February 05, 2008
By Kenneth Hein
Looking to move out of fourth place in the exploding ready-to-drink tea category, Coca-Cola acquired a 40% stake in Honest Tea today. The current deal was valued at $43 million with the right to purchase the rest of the company in three years, per the Wall Street Journal.
Founded in 1998, Honest Tea was one of the first beverage brands to hop on the organic bandwagon. It offers dozens of low sugar tea SKUs including Heavenly Honey Green tea and Pomegranate Red Tea with Goji Berry as well as an Honest Kids line and Honest Ade juices.
Honest Tea’s revenue last year totaled approximately $23 million in sales, per Beverage Digest, Bedford Hills, N.Y. Volume grew 24% in the first nine months of last year.
"We started Honest Tea ten years ago with five thermoses and an ambitious vision for offering a new type of beverage—a delicious healthier drink produced with a consciousness about the way the ingredients are grown," said Seth Goldman, co-founder and CEO, Honest Tea, Bethesda, Md., in a statement. “We are thrilled to receive this investment from the world's largest beverage company to help take our brand and our mission to a larger scale and wider audience.”
Coca-Cola sells Nestea and Enviga under a joint deal with Nestea as well as Gold Peak and Fuze teas. However, it owns only about 11% of the tea category which was up 23.6% for the first nine months of last year. PepsiCo’s Lipton and SoBe teas were first with nearly 40% of the category followed by independent beverage company AriZona and Cadbury Schweppes’ Snapple.
“Coke has needed to strengthen its tea portfolio and this is a good first step in that direction,” said John Sicher, editor of Beverage Digest. “Honest has a point of difference and now its up to Coke and Honest to see how well they can grow this brand.”
Honest Tea is latest “bolt on acquisition” for Coke which has been looking strengthen its non-carbonated drink portfolio. It acquired Vitaminwater and its sister brands for $4.1 billion last May and Fuze Beverage last February for $200 million.
“Honest Tea is on the forefront of the rapidly growing organic beverage business, and Seth Goldman and his management team have successfully anticipated and met consumer needs in this expanding category," said Deryck van Rensburg, president and GM of Venturing and Emerging Brands, Coca-Cola North America, Atlanta, in a statement. "This transaction is a superb example of our mission in VEB to seek out and invest in the best beverage entrepreneurs and the highest growth-potential beverages."

Kanye West helps YOU search teh Interweb!
I'm not sure what to think with Kanye's latest stunt. The Kanye West Search Engine uses Google and Ask to create an Ad Revenue Generator centered around the famous Pop/Rap/Hip-Hop, multi-genre artist. So why would you use this search engine over the ever popular Google? To get Kanye Merch of course! The more searching you do with Kanye, the more swag bucks you win.
I'll wait as the anti-pop/trendy hackers have a field day with this loved/hated artists new website.

Charity Project Room-to-Read
Here's a excellent way to support a good cause and expand your Marketing/Business Library. I ordered mine, I think David Ogilvy puts it best:
"Supposing you've got an acute appendicitis. You've got to be operated on tonight. Would you like to have a surgeon who’s read some books on anatomy and knows how to do that operation - or would you prefer to have a surgeon who refused to read all books about anatomy and relied on his own instinct?"

Obama is pulling an exciting amount of support from the Interweb. Fallon's Planning Blog has been covering the "phenomenon" for sometime now. As most of you are aware, Obama Girl has continued to pull millions of views on YouTube. Now, artists and friends are creating even more inspiring material.
The most notable form of success is the now overwhelmed Obama website pictured here:
