Fill out an application and return them to the ACCENT office on the third floor of the Reitz Union by the due date. Applications are available in room 300 of the Reitz Union.


Position Descriptions:
Vice Chair of Promotions- Oversees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week.

Campus Advertising- Publicizes ACCENT events at the residence halls, fraternity and sorority houses, and off campus apartments, announces at student senate, as well as distributes fliers and hangs posters around the campus.6

Copy Editor- Insures that all ACCENT promotional work is in accordance with AP styles and edits all programs, tickets, fliers, posters, and press releases.

Media Advertising- Distributes posters to local businesses, informs organizations as well as the Wednesday update of upcoming shows, and arranges for ads in the newspapers, radio, movies and television.1

Press Relations- Writes and distributes press releases and coordinates press conferences.1

Program- Creates a program with a brief history of the speaker, the ACCENT organization, any co-sponsoring organization, and a survey regarding future shows. Also is responsible for distributing the programs and collecting the surveys.3

Vice Chair of Production- Over sees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week.

Audio-Visual/Technical- Videotapes ACCENT speeches and produces promotional video highlights as well as works with hired still photographer.1

Guest Relations- Arranges hotel accommodations, ground transportation, tours of campus, meals, and any other details that will make the guests stay at UF as pleasurable as possible.2

Production- Works with the venue to ensure all aspects of production of the speech are in order including seating assignments, microphone setup, lighting, sound, the stage, entry and exit, and staff-pass distribution.2

Security- Provides security and ushers to ensure the safety of the speaker, maintains crowd control pre and post speech, oversees microphone use for end of show questions.4

Vice Chair of Outreach- Over sees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week.

Campus Relations- Seeks out SG sponsored organizations to do co-sponsorships with as well as finds new venues.2

Feedback- Oversees the public’s recommendations. Coordinates ideas given by the public threw surveys, the computer, the phone and a suggestion box and presents them to the chairman in a concise format to improve the future of ACCENT.

Outreach Shows- Seeks out other sectors of the University, beyond SG sponsored organizations to create special interest shows.2

Interactive Services- Publicizes ACCENT events through computer medium and creates a ACCENT home page as part of the Student Government home page.1

Vice Chair of Structure- Over sees the following positions and reports to the chairman every week.

Corporate Affairs- Solicits products for ACCENT use and business co-sponsorships.

Historian- Maintains a scrap book of all programs, articles, and press releases for every show ACCENT presents or co sponsors.

Personnel- Organizes and coordinates staff members and meetings to ensure the staff is both utilized and involved.1

Special Projects- Handles miscellaneous work as well as provides assistance to all other directors.2

Treasurer- Oversees finances of ACCENT, works with the chairman to disperse funds proportionally.

Finance Director- Works with the Treasurer to help maintain the finances and expenditures.1

Administrative Assistant- Works directly with/for the chairman to ensure the daily activities of ACCENT operate efficiently.1

• All director and vice-chair applicants must sign up for an interview. Interviews will be brief do to the number of applicants. If you do not show up for an interview you will immediately be disqualified.
• Assistant directors and staff need not sign up for an interview.
• All directors and vice-chairs must be available to hold office hours.
