Grove is operated by the Office of Academic Technology (AT) at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.

Accounts on this computer are available to all University of Florida students,faculty and most staff. The basic Grove account is set up with a 50MB size limit and a 5000 file limit.
You can apply for a grove account at the HUB Helpdesk (M-F 8am - 7pm) or online at: http://service.gatorlink.ufl.edu, then choose Modify and on the left of that page - select grove unix services and follow the appropriate option.

The Internet address for grove is http://grove.ufl.edu.

The hardware is an ES40 quad processor with 4 GB RAM. The operating system is Compaq Tru64 UNIX (Digital Unix) 5.1A. Most of the application software has been upgraded including all compilers and interpreters such as Fortran, Pascal, COBOL, C, perl, C++, Java development kit, as well as Maple, MATLAB and SAS.

The Grove server runs:

  • perl version 5.6.0
  • web service is apache 1.3.26 that runs cgi scripting
  • php version 4.2.2
  • mysql version 3.23.52
