Cotton Club Historic Preservation Project
WHAT IS THE COTTON CLUB?
The Cotton Club, also known as the Perry Theater, the Blue Note, and the Badcock Furniture Warehouse, was originally a PX at Camp Blanding and was moved to its current location after World War II. In its hay day, performers such as James Brown, Brook Benton, and B.B. King played to large audiences. The Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in partnership with the University of Florida's Powell Center for Construction & Environment and Historic Preservation Program, are restoring the building for use as a museum, gift shop, and cultural center.
