Grass Biology, ORH 4932 (2 credits)
and ORH 6932 (Graduate)

Schedule: July 5, 6, 9, and 10, 2007 (four days), 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Location: University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, 3205 College Ave., 3205 College Ave., Davie, FL 33314 with field trips every day.

Objectives

  1. To learn how to collect, describe, and identify grasses using technical characteristics
  2. To become familiar with 50 South Florida grass species
  3. To complete a set of diagnostic descriptions and drawings of about 15 grass species
  4. To understand the natural history and other characteristics of grasses

Recommended supplies

  1. Hat, sunscreen, substantial footwear, insect repellent, something to drink, lunch box
  2. Book, "How to identify grasses and grass-like plants"
  3. Lunches and snacks
