Class projects will continue all semester.

Resources for golf and sports turf professionals.

Objective:
  (1) to review and recommend books, magazines, and other outlets for professional information;
 (2) to develop a miniature library list for turfgrass professionals.;
 (3) to participate in appropriate trade associations, for example, on September 18th the class will go to Tampa to attend the Florida Turfgrass Association and Show for the whole day, leaving very early in the morning.

Aerification and drainage.

Objective:

 
  (1) to evaluate equipment used in aerification and measurement of compaction and infiltration;
 (2) to study examples of drainage modification.

Comparative study of golf and sports fields.

Objectives:

  (1) to develop a universal template for describing golf courses and sports fields.  Parameters would include history, soils, management regimes, and budget;
 (2) students will attempt to develop a concept of utility that can help analyze whether a facility is under- or over-maintained.
