Past Workshops
Research Proposal Writing (Fall 2007, Nov. 15)
Hands-On Journal Review - aimed at providing students information on submitting, revising and resubmitting to journals (Fall 2007, Oct. 25)
Navigating the IRB - aimed at providing students information on
writing and submitting IRB approval. Ethical and research issues were
also discussed. (Fall 2007, Oct. 4)
The Spring 2007 workshops sought to gain from faculty’s professional
knowledge about publishing articles in scholarly journals. The
workshops provided an area in which students and faculty in
specialization areas could congregate to discuss the finer points of
publishing, such
as: key journals to publish in, conferences in which to present, and
techniques for manuscript preparation. A possible and desired outcome
was the facilitation of faculty review of articles before submission to
journals.
The 4 workshops organized by specialization during the
spring 2007 semester were:
Families, Gender, and Sexualities – March 9th at 3:30pm
Race and Ethnic Studies – March 30th at 1:30pm
Health, Aging and the Life Course – April 13th at 3pm
Environment and Resource Sociology – April 20th at 3pm
