About the Conference

The Conference of the Social Sciences is designed to provide graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to showcase their research while receiving constructive feedback in a collegial environment. It also offers valuable professional socialization experiences that will prepare them for their future roles as academics.

The goal of the conference is to provide faculty, graduate and undergraduate students a forum to network and exchange ideas in an intellectually stimulating environment with the aim of fostering research cooperation among faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students.

The conference highlights research projects that are currently underway in the social sciences field. In past conferences, scholars from various disciplines have presented sociologically oriented research on issues ranging from: race, class, gender, sexualities, families, aging, domination, public and political sociology, immigration, health and well-being, and media.

The conference is organized by the graduate students involved in the Society of the Social Sciences at the University of Florida (SSSUF). The SSSUF is a student organization that seeks to foster the development of research within the social sciences and to provide an environment of collegiality and cooperation among young scholars.
