Each year, Recurso directors organize an international service trip. In the past, diverse groups of passionate students, from engineers to zoology students, have provided direct aid to developing nations in Latin America. Months before the trip itself, members volunteer and work to gather the support, materials and funding necessary to make the trip a success.
Founder’s Day Gala
We’re bringing in the New Year with a gala that will celebrate international development and lifelong service. These themes will carry through the night’s two thought provoking speakers: Edward Scott Jr. & Allene Zanger. Edward Scott is the co-founder of the Center for Global Development and DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade Africa) an advocacy organization dedicated to eradicating extreme poverty. Allene Zanger is the regional director of the Peace Corps, prior to this appointment Zanger worked as a deputy attorney general. She has served in Peace Corps and will speak about lifelong service. We will feature a variety of entertainment and refreshments. The event is free of charge and will be hosted in the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 sharp and we will begin at 7:00.
