Dental Assissting Program
Beginning this Summer - April 21, 2008 - the Operative Clinic will be requiring all volunteers to complete a 2 session training program. Part 1 will be offered Tuesday March 4th @ 5pm and Tuesday March 18th at 5pm. Part 2 will be offered Wednesday March 5th at 5pm and Wednesday March 19th at 5pm.
All sessions will meet in D3-21 (3rd floor of the dental tower). All volunteers must complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of the training to be permitted into the Operative Clinic.
To sign up for the training interested participants can go to the Volunteer Office in Shands - there are only 30 slots per session. Additionally, on the first day of the training there will be a brief quiz regarding instrumentation - volunteers will be asked to identify instruments from an instrument kit by name. Individuals that are unable to identify at least 80% of the instruments will be unable to continue on with the training.

The following link will take you to the "Instrumentation for Operative Dentistry" page where you can start becoming familiar with the instruments used in the Operative Clinic. It will be very helpful to help you study for the quiz required to pass in order to volunteer at the Dental Operative Clinic beginning this Summer 08. Good Luck
